Job Description

The fitout of this early learning childcare centre was based in a heritage building and needed to meet strict requirements associated with it. And being the third fitout for this dynamic client meant that we were more than ready for the challenges associated with this specific commercial sector.

By stripping away many existing interior layers, we were able to focus on restoring hidden features and a very impressive timber floor. New works are sympathetic to the heritage elements in style, colour and purpose. Installation of new glazed partitioning to form required spaces within the interior were colour matched to existing finishes, providing a perfect blend of new and old interior elements for this classroom interior design project. Each space has been carefully finished providing a well-balanced interior ready for the onslaught of little people.

The success of this construction project was crowned with a Conservation Heritage Award for conservation of a heritage place within the institutional category.

Extent of Work:

Building works – All works carried out in keeping with original methods of construction within the building. Refurbishment of existing timber floors throughout the building. Installation of new partitioning to suit heritage requirements. Re-surfacing of walls and repairs to existing perimeter doors and window frames. Creation of bathroom areas, dining hall and activity areas. Installation of timber canopies to form exterior verandahs and walkways. Installation of new disabled ramp.
Services – Upgrade to existing services and installation of new lighting, power and data. New plumbing and drainage installation to service commercial kitchen and toilet areas.
Furniture – Custom built joinery to activity rooms, baby change areas and dining hall.
