Commercial Fitout Case Study | Independent Living Centre
The Independent Living Centre WA is a long established healthcare support facility, providing invaluable service to the community. Its focus is on assisted living for people with disabilities and the aged community. While its current business in Shenton Park continues in-situ, there was a growing need to expand ILC’s operation. The southern suburbs were targeted and a tenancy was found in Cockburn.
The new ILC commercial fitout for the Cockburn centre was earmarked to focus on smart home technology. In essence, it was to operate as a standard ILC office. However, it was also to offer a replica living environment for those who visited.
Commercial Fitout Inspiration
The bare shell tenancy is situated in the Cockburn Integrated health and Community Facility. It is an elongated rectangular space with natural light factors at either end. The tenancy was in great condition, being newly built. It did however lack a welcoming ‘feel’ that would be required to fulfil the ILC brief.
The design approach to create this new interior was to remove the square edged boundary to the tenancy. Following this, we conjured curved, three dimensional rooms that delivered on ILC’s interior requirements. This approach also retained an open plan working floor plate. The first of the vertically and horizontally curved walls greets visitors as they enter the commercial interior. It then gently moves them through the adjoining curved spaces, allowing them to source the information required.
