Allow me to introduce Roy G Biv

Commercial interior design and colour

G’day mate! How is everything going with you? Heard you’ve been talking about various commercial interior design solutions. Well, I’ve been hot on the trail of new commercial interior design solutions and can I say – life can be very exciting. Commercial interior design is of course what I’m all about. Blimey, I work for Bellfort and keep all of them in line so I must love my field of expertise.

Today’s blog is going to introduce you to what has been a close friend of mine since the year dot. And the cool thing is you know all about it but just don’t remember Roy G Biv as you should.

Consider a rainbow and what comes to your mind? Colour, a pot of gold and possibly even Leprechauns. Well, Roy G Biv is actually an acronym for the sequence of hues that make up a rainbow. Not a little man who wears a green hat.

Interior fitout solutions and colour for your commercial interior design

Colour influences every aspect of our waking life and in many cases, our sleeping too. Apparently if you dream in colour you are meant to have heightened senses. Goodness knows how they would interpret some of the colours in my dreams!

Every commercial interior design has colour and there have been many people over the years who have developed certain theories on colour combinations and how our behaviour may be affected. What I thought I would share with you today is what I think is the Roy G Biv effect and the positive influences that flow from that simple rainbow. So here we go…

R Is For RED

This colour is stimulating to our physical senses. It excites our emotions and inspires us to take action. Red demands you to take notice. It’s fast moving and promotes a need for movement.

O IS For ORANGE

Orange promotes physical confidence and enthusiasm, supporting adventure and risk taking thought processes. It can help stimulate conversation and is a great background choice for when people come together to socialise.

Y Is For YELLOW

This is the colour of the mind and intellect – quite appropriate when you talk about commercial interior design. Yellow stimulates our mental faculties and helps to uplift spirits and create enthusiasm. Yellow also stimulates us to find new ways of doing things.

G is for GREEN

Harmony and balance is what you will find with green. It can balance our energies and can revitalise us when we are feeling low. Because it has a link with the heart, it also encourages us to nurture others. Something that wouldn’t go amiss in any commercial interior design!

B is for BLUE

This is the colour of trust and responsibility. Blue relates to conversation and self-expression but also induces calm and peace within us. The darker the blue, the calmer and more peaceful we become. Blue is also considered a safe colour and is the most universally liked colour of all.

If you are seeking higher spiritual knowledge, this is the colour for you as it assists our intuitive abilities. Deep sincerity and integrity are also promoted by this colour while it also promotes concentration and an idealistic future outlook.

V is for VIOLET

Original ideas for any commercial interior design can be created with violet and it can come in handy when brainstorming. Violet encourages creative pursuits and seeks inspiration and originality through its creative endeavours. It likes to be unique, individual and independent, not one of the crowd.

Gotta love that rainbow! I’ve always thought of them as a bit of a miracle, to leave us with something to smile about on a cold rainy day. And I don’t think I’m wrong. I just hope that next time you see one, you remember some of the meanings behind Roy G Biv and flash those pearly whites.

And a bit of a puzzle for you to tackle until my next blog. How many sentences can you make out of the acronym Roy G Biv? Something like – ride on your groovy bike in vain?? That’s my version and I do ride on my groovy bike all the time. Let me know what you come up with.

Talk to you again soon! If you would like to read more of my blogs, click here. Or browse through our Pinterest page for more colourful ideas.
