At Bellfort we firmly believe that boring old government interior design should be abolished. We also firmly believe that creative and enjoyable interiors should replace them. While we understand that most government departments have strict requirements that need to be incorporated within their interior for public use, this does not mean that we can’t include interesting elements for everyone to benefit from.

As with all commercial interior design and fitout, creating inspiring government offices has its own unique challenges. Budget, timing and quality of workmanship must meet strict criteria.
Every office fitout must stringently meet all Australian Building Codes as well as Australian Standards in relation to access, occupancy and public use. Whether the project is a simple office renovation or complex office design and fitout, the completed interior space must abide by current regulations so that it can be deemed safe and operational. This doesn’t translate into dull and boring. Our designer’s approach to every commercial interior is to think beyond the average and deliver a creative and functional workspace that is 100% excitingly compliant.
We have successfully worked for a number of different government departments including Department of Human Services, Department of Agriculture & Water Resources and Department of Defence.
Bellfort have completed a number of commercial fitouts for DHS, facilitating the co-location of Centrelink and Medicare’s public services. Attempting any interior work within these environments requires out-of-hours’ construction, fast-tracking of all trades and a sympathetic approach to ensure public services are not obstructed. Department standards need to be met at all times and open lines of communication maintained to ensure easy flow of operations.
We are also willing to tackle government projects that are not necessarily within a typical commercial interior. A perfect example of this was the creation of a mock-up A380 Airbus for the Department of Defence, creating a high standard training facility for the RAAF. Security and facility requirements were upheld throughout the construction period and the end result was a proud achievement for all involved.
